The idea for FREEshopping.com, like so many others great ideas, sprang from need. The need to somehow get control of the spiraling costs of Internet
advertising. The reality today is that there are very few effective places to advertise on the Internet. Similar to the early days of Radio or TV
with one, maybe two, stations existing in an area, advertising costs were high. In time as more and more options for business promotion became
available; the increased competition caused those costs to become more reasonable.
Not so with the Internet. Only a handful of sites currently exist providing sufficient exposure to qualify them as relevant to advertisers. And,
those websites know it! Due to the number of advertisers fighting for space on so few sites, once realistic pay-per-click advertising now escalates
almost weekly.
Founder Joe Mehm came to realize that if he could draw just a portion of the power from the websites devoted to “Free Stuff”,
and get his company’s name posted on them, he could cut advertising costs dramatically. He also realized the power of social networking sites
and the consumers interest in sharing their shopping experiences which fuels the consumer driven referrals needed to make this possible.
But first an offer of something free, something that
those webmasters and consumers would consider a fantastic value and want all their visitors or friends to know about was needed.
What if you could find a way to pay those ad dollars back to the consumers who are already shopping at your store instead of the search giants?

In its simplest form, Mehm’s process pays previous customers for new purchases made by others referred to the site. It’s shifting dollars
from up front advertising costs that may or may not result in a sale being made, to paying for sales after they’re made. But, it doesn't
stop there. Other contributing factors that make this program possible are: traffic from the "Free Stuff" websites; extensive
media coverage; purchasers posting links embedded with their code number on their Myspace page, personal website, etc.; customers who
gladly continue referring others even after they have received 100% of their money back; or a combination of all these factors.
Each one is also a contributing force helping to drive quality, service oriented websites higher on the search
engine result pages, thus generating even more free leads. Before long advertising costs decline to such an extent they become
just a minor expense. You win, your friends win, we all win!
Since the Rewards Program is entirely optional and the product prices are actually among the lowest on the Internet, the program is positioned
well within regulatory guidelines for legitimacy. Purchasers are not required to participate in the program in order to receive a great deal
on top quality mechandise.
